We are very pleased to announce that we now have access to ScienceDirect Freedom Collection – you’ll find it linked to our database pages.  Freedom Collection is a package of over 2,000 electronic journals in a broad array of disciplines with significant strength in environmental sciences, energy, and nuclear energy.  We have access to current issues of journals as well as issues dating from 2008.

If you are interested in keeping up on news from China or doing research on current topics, you’ll like Current Digest of the Chinese Press.  In partnership with Middlebury, we have a new subscription to this online compilation of stories from the Chinese press that have been translated into English.  We have access to all issues from 2011, including the inaugural issue.

If you are looking for statistics on China, we are happy to report that we now have access to China Data Online.  This database features both national, provincial and city statistics.  With census figures, industrial production, trade and demographic statistics, this site is a terrific addition to our database list.

The library now has a subscription to Plunkett Research Online.   The database is excellent for industry, company, and career research.  You’ll find market research and forecasts, company profiles and job search tools.  Plunkett publishes research on major U.S. industries and on growing industries like gaming, social media and green technology.

We are excited to announce that we have access to a new electronic journal package from Taylor & Francis.  The Social Sciences Humanities package includes over 1000 journals with full text coverage dating from 1997.  You’ll find a link to the package on our databases page.  The individual titles in the package are listed with links on our Periodicals AtoZ List.

If you are a New York Times reader and are concerned about the new digital subscription model they adopted this week, the Library has good news for you.  We do get a print copy of the newspaper delivered to our door every day.  But we also have full access to articles from the Times through ProQuest and LexisNexis.  Both databases give us an archive of articles dating from 1980.  Both have easy search interfaces allowing for different search strategies.  And both are updated daily.
