We had a great time at the Data Visualization workshop! We would like to thank everybody that came to the Data Visualization workshop and contributed their experiences and perspectives. In this introductory session, we explored the underlying concepts of data and the different ways it can be expressed.

We utilized a vast array of platforms including ManyEyes, Wordle, SourceMap, Excel, Aviary, GapMinder and good ol’ fashioned Microsoft Paint. However, our experience went beyond tools. After asking ourselves why and how we visualize date, we began to see visualization as a conceptual language; a method to tell a story.
