Based on the successful MiddStart micro-philanthropy platform designed by Middlebury College, MontereySTART was introduced at the Monterey Institute in August 2011 to serve as another source of funding for students embarking on projects and activities that complement their education. Donors to the projects have a direct impact on students’ lives by helping fund an immersive experience or build a project from the ground up.
