In July, GSTILE Professor Kathi Bailey travelled to Brazil where she gave  plenary presentations at two national conferences of English teachers there.

At the conference in São Paulo, she also co-presented with MIIS alumni Ryan Damerow and David Chiesa. The talk  was about their research on using dialogue journals in the language learning classroom with university-level EFL (English as a foreign language) students.

In Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Bailey co-presented with MIIS alumni Courtney Pahl and Ryan Damerow. This talk was based on the team’s research about the use of languages in international organizations.

Ms. Pahl is serving as an English Language Fellow in Brasilia, teaching English and doing teacher training. Mr. Chiesa serves as an English Language Fellow in Beijing, where he is also training English language teachers and helping to coordinate the English Language Fellows Program in China. Mr. Damerow is the Executive Assistant of The International Research Foundation for English Language Education.
